Broadening Horizons Project
Who benefits: 72 children between 6 and 12 years
What we offer: A school outside of school where local children have access to extra-curricular socio-educational activities, free of charge, as well as cultural and leisure events that also include their families and school. Each student attends 9 hours of classes and enrichment activities per week, throughout the school year.
Classes and activities (3 times/week) include:
- Homework support
- Reading, writing and math
- Capoeira angola
- Drama and art
- Sports and games
- Projects that teach about personal and local identity
Integration events with students, teachers, families and school include:
- Excursion
- Community Days
- Commemorative Parties
- Children’s Day Party
- Events to open each term
- Casa do Jardim Anniversary Party (with family members and partners)
- End of Year Party (with family members and partners)
- Christmas Party
Expected results for children:
